Geographical distribution and phylogenic relationships of Hirschmanniella diversa Sher (Nematoda: Pratylenchidae) in Japan

Summary Hirschmanniella diversa and H. imamuri parasitise the lotus, Nelumbo nucifera. spp. are most important pests of lotus cultivation in Japan, but distribution species dominancy not fully understood. In this study, we aimed to collect individuals from roots major areas Japan identify them morphologically molecularly using 18S, D2-D3 regions rRNA mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I ( mtCOI ). oryzae , commonly known cause damage on rice was also obtained analysed for inter- intraspecies sequence variations. All genus extracted 16 fields ten prefectures were identified as molecularly. This result revealed that is a dominant parasitising Japan. Meanwhile, intraspecific variations relatively higher (1-21 bases, ≦5.3%) than 18S 28S (0.0-0.3% 0.0-0.4%, respectively) those . Based sequences, five haplotypes each haplotype distributed close or which same cultivars grown, although further studies required verify assertion. The morphological genetic (no variation ), suggesting recent invasive species.
